Obituary

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain. for the former things have passed away." (Revelations 21:4)

Sister Betty Mae Ross was born in Fluker, LA on December 6, 1947, to the late Isaac E. Ross, Sr. and the late Lillie Brown Ross. She departed this life at her home on August 25, 2019.
Sister Betty accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Richard E. Wright. She remained a faithful member of the Mt. Gillion Missionary Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer and a member of the senior mission. Betty helped in any area of the church where she was needed, whether it was helping in the kitchen or helping to clean up the church after a service.
Betty also served as treasurer for the West Side High School Class of 1966, the Young Men Social Club, and the Shady Grove #134 O.E.S of Fluker, Louisiana. She was an officer of the Royal and Exalted-Order of Amaranth Elizabeth Ash Court #7 of Amite, Louisiana.
Betty received her education from the public schools of Tangipahoa Parish. She was a proud graduate of Westside High School Class of 1966. She bragged about the closeness of her class and how, although they were a small class, they loved each other like siblings. She was excited to bring her family to their class's reunion picnic and made sure that everyone cleared their calendars for the event. Betty worked 41 years various positions, including as assistant manager of Bill's Dollar Store in Kentwood, Louisiana. She was a dedicated worker and loved both coworkers and customers. The store changed names numerous times; however, she remained loyal and faithful to what many would call "Ms. Betty's store."
Betty absolutely loved everyone and never hesitated to go above and beyond when needed, especially with children. She developed a unique relationship with them, and eventually, all who knew and loved her called her "Mae Mae."
Sister Betty leaves to cherish her most precious memories: Two Sisters: Emma Jean and Joyce Ross of Ange, LA; One brother, Henry (Bobbie) Ross of Independence, LA; Two Aunts: Catherine Thomas of Amite, LA and Elizabeth Wilson of Roseland, LA; One god-child, Tremaine Burton of Fluker, LA; and a host nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac E. Ross and Lillie Brown Ross; Two sisters Dorothy and Rosalie Ross; Three Brothers, Isaac E. Ross Sr., Freddie Ross, and Willie J. Ross, Sr.; and two nieces, Valerie V. Ross and Sabrina Burton- Robinson.
