Elton Russell Hill was born on September 17, 1963 to Mr. Lee E. Hill and Mrs. Ella F. Hill Williams.  Russell, as he was commonly known, was the third of four children born of this union.  At an early age, it was clear that Russell was a special child, as he was not only competitive and smart, earning various academic accolades, but unlike his brothers, Russell returned from school each day "neat as a pin," just as his mother sent him out each day.  These attributes were in-grained in his personality and continued throughout his life.  Russell graduated from Warren Easton Senior High School in 1981in the top 20% of his class.  He gained work experience while attending high school and was a member of Distributive Education Clubs of American, where he was introduced to sales, marketing, and entrepreneurship.  Russell had a profound love for cars and was a natural talent for mechanics.  As a result, he enrolled in Delgado Community College, majoring in Automotive Mechanics.  Upon completing his first semester, his instructors agreed that there was nothing they could teach him that he was not more than proficient in, so they made some calls and got him a job at Mossy Oldsmobile.  It was not long before Russell became a certified Olds mechanic and was widely sought after throughout the New Orleans Metropolitan area.  After about three years of service to Mossy, Russell's itch for entrepreneurship led him to start his own business, Worldwide Towing.  As his name and brand in the business grew, he expanded his business to include a towing yard and a body and fender shop.  Enjoying many years of financial success, Russell decided to re-brand the business, focusing on transportation almost exclusively, and renamed his company and established a second company, Worldwide Towing, Inc. and Worldwide Limo and Transportation, respectively.

On September 14, 2002, as a birthday present to himself, Russell married the love of his life, Tonya Watson.  Russell's eyes were not big enough to see Tonya, nor were her eyes big enough to see him.  Their level of affection and attention to and for each other was certainly one to emulate.  Russell and Tonya not only had fun together, but they were a fun couple.  Having both grown up in Christian homes, prior to marriage, they recommitted themselves to the Lord and as a married couple, one of the joys of their life was working in ministry.  Shortly after marriage, they joined Abundant Life Church of God In Christ, under the leadership of Elder Benjamin Badon.  After hurricane Katrina decimated New Orleans, Russell and Tonya left New Orleans and established residency in Hammond, Louisiana and shortly thereafter, established membership with Beacon Light Full Gospel Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, under the leadership of Elder Eric Williams.  After serving tirelessly there, traveling back and forth for many years, Russell and Tonya decided to change their membership to God's Faith Ministry of Amite, Louisiana, founded by Rev. Dr. Francis Williams, Russell's stepfather whom he loved and adored.  Russell served as the director of the Sound Ministry, a position he took very seriously, often spending hours of his time meeting with vendors and technicians to ensure GFM had the best equipment possible and that service flowed without a hitch.  When his brother Elder Kevin C. Hill became pastor, the expectations were even higher, so Russell became even more fastidious about his responsibility to the church.  Russell was a very active and astute Sunday School student and had a real knack for relating complex biblical principles to everyday experiences.  Russell could often be heard saying that he was " able to operate the church from the sound booth to the pulpit, if need be! "  There is no doubt that he could.

Russell was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson all over the country.  He enjoyed riding so much so that he founded the Northshore Chapter of the Free Riders Motorcycle Club, a national motorcycle association.  The club was no ordinary motorcycle organization, but is rather one that emphasizes community service.  Russell was actively involved in the planning and distribution of food drives to needy families at peek times of the year, toy drives for Christmas and even education scholarships.  He loved the brotherhood he shared with members of the Free Riders and proudly looked forward to having the club intermittently spend time with him at his church.  Russell often posted pictures and videos of himself on Facebook and other social media platforms, as he enjoyed his "wind therapy."

On Sunday, November 29, 2020, after a very brief illness, Elton Russell Hill transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home, as his loving and devoted wife, Tonya, his brother Kevin, "sister in love," Dwan; and adopted brother Floyd Green, tearfully bade him goodbye.

Russell lived a very full life and loved his family with all his heart.  He leaves a rich legacy of life-changing, lifelong experiences on which his family can reflect and enjoy.  He leaves to celebrate his life, the love of his life Tonya Watson Hill, his four children, Teresha Carter, of Houma; Louisiana, Trishan Williams of Seattle Washington; Jonathan and Aryelle Hill, both of New Orleans; his mother Ella Foxworth Williams, of Independence, Louisiana; his father Lee E. Hill and his wife Laura, of New Orleans. Two sisters, Jacqueline Thornton and her husband Pastor Keith Thornton of New Orleans; Dinah Hill Dillon and her husband Walter, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and one brother Kevin C. Hill and his wife Dwan of Hammond, Louisiana.  He also leaves to cherish his memories nieces and nephews, namely, LaTasha and Patrick Hill; Caressa Thornton Stafford; Westley, Kerry, Toi, and Alana Thornton; Jasmine Daniels; Karlton, Chandler, Ciara, and Patrick-Michael Hill.  He also leaves to celebrate his life four grandchildren, aunts and uncles, cousins with whom he was raised, relatives, church members, members of the Free Riders Motorcycle Club and many friends.  His oldest brother Patrick G. Hill, his stepfather Rev. Dr. Francis Williams, grandson Shayne Cole and both sets of grandparents preceded him in death.
