Obituary

Robert Earl "Big Bob" Brooke

October 27, 1948 - May 7, 2023

He was born in Gary, Indiana. He graduated from
Pasadena High School, Pasadena Texas. He was a V-1
Division USS America CVA-66 Vietnam Veteran. Big Bob
attended Virginia Tech in Portsmouth, Virginia and then
graduated with a BA in Business Administration from
Southeastern Louisiana University. He started out in
business with Hayden Swimming Pools and subsequently
became the owner of Brookeside Pools. Big Bob started his
relationship with the Lord at Mt Nebo Baptist Church in
1984, where he actively taught Sunday School, led the
music, and participated in all activities of the church. In
2000, he brought his family to join the congregation of
Cornerstone Church of Amite. His favorite thing was 8
a.m. services with David Leto and singing old gospel
music. Big Bob was a quiet man who went about his
business tending to his family. He enjoyed hunting,
fishing, golfing, and playing cards with Radar Currier and
the Pat Murphy gang. He was an avid supporter of the
Amite Oyster Festival and any other activity his wife got
him into.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until service at 1 p.m.
