Obituary

On September 28, 2020 God whispered to Percy, well done my Good and Faithful Servant.

Percy Courtney Jr. was born to the late Percy & Beretta Courtney on June 18, 1947. He attended Big Zion Elementary School and continued on to graduate from Westside High School. Percy was not only easy on the eyes, athletic and a Football player he had a talent for drawing. He would later meet and marry Isabelle Brumfield, which he said was the love of his life. To their union four children were born Kenneth Courtney, Deteral Perry Roseland, La Darrell Courtney (Robbie) Roseland, La Latrice Courtney-Carey (Martin) Avondale, La. Later another child was placed and accepted into their love and care Brittany Venible Roseland, La.

Percy also began to develop other talents as well as a love and passion for hunting, fishing and "Oyster Shucking". He perfected the craft of "Oyster Shucking" and became very well known for it. He would later be given the name "Mr. P. Percy was featured in various articles, soirees, festivals, restaurants, and even a commercial. Due to his popularity and his overall demeanor the Abita Brewing Company was considering naming a drink after him. Percy was faithful in service to the New Life Ministries Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Elisa Edwards until he was called home.

He also leaves to cherish in his loving memory, two brothers Freddie Courtney (Narva) Pueblo, Co Charles Courtney(Genoria) Roseland, La. one sister Edith Courtney also Roseland, La. twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one god child Jameila Moore, Baton Rouge La. A host of nieces, nephews, fishing buddies and numerous friends. He was proceeded in death by both parents Percy & Beretta Courtney, his wife Isabelle B. Courtney, one son Kenneth Courtney, two brothers Leroy Harrison, Leonard Harrison, one sister Margaret Courtney, one nephew Charles E. Burise.

Percy was undeniably well known and loved by so many. His deep love for God, life and his grandchildren will truly be missed.

But of the day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven but my Father only.        Matthew 24:36
