Norma Gail Lee Beatts was born on September 5, 1951 to the late
Edward Ernest Lee and Irene Woolridge Lee. Norma was called
home to be with her Heavenly Father on March 11, 2021 in
Picayune, Mississippi.
Norma was baptized at an early age at Peoples United Methodist
Church in her hometown of New Orleans. She attended Orleans
Parish Public Schools and graduated from John F. Kennedy Sr.
High School in 1969. She received her Bachelor of Science in
Sociology and Psychology from Grambling College in 1972. Norma
then went on to spend a significant part of her life as a community
service worker, working in New Orleans, Kokomo, Indiana, and
Atlanta, Georgia.
Norma had an unwavering faith in God, and she shared His love
with others as a children's Sunday School teacher, a kind and
friendly neighbor, a beloved family member, an active member of
Picayune's St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, and a gifted
storyteller who knew how to get a laugh out of whoever was around
her. She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted sister, Martrenia
Lee Hawkins (Edward) Carriere, Mississippi, two brothers Marvin
Lee (Melba) Missouri City, Texas, and Melvin Lee of New Orleans,
Louisiana; nieces Ashley Lee Bryson (Damian) The Woodlands,
Texas, Tyffani Hawkins, Carriere, Mississippi; 2 great nieces, one
great nephew; an aunt, Laura Knighten, Hammond, Louisiana, an
uncle, Larnceen Woolridge, Mansfield, Louisiana, and a host of
family and friends.
