Morris Lewis was born on November 6, 1950 to the late Walter L. Lewis and Thedora Harrell Lewis of Independence, LA. He was the third child of eleven children born  to this union.

Morris Lewis known to many as  "Reese"  was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Morris attended Southern University of Baton Rouge, LA. He later enlisted in the Army and served four years in the military before returning home to start a family.

He joined Leonard Chapel Church at an early age and was an active member until he transitioned. He served in many capacities such as a trustee, steward, Sons of Allen and the usher broad.  He was active wherever he was needed.

Reese leaves to cherish his memory:  two children: Nikki Giovanni Lewis-Willis (John), Morris Patrick Lewis (Kameella);  Seven grandchildren: Kash Xavier Barnes, Jahni Adore-Nia Willis, Kazzah' DeWilliam, Nicholas Alexander Willis, Isaiah Davis, Kemireya Williams, & Kira'Nei Williams; Three brothers: Wayne Lewis, Anthony Lewis, and Richard Lewis;  Five sisters: Vera Crawford (Richard) Sandra Hampton, Katherine Thomas, Cynthia Perry, and Tammy Mitchell (Patrick);  and goddaughter Jasmine Lewis Cyprian; His mother-in-law,  Deloris Jackson Doughty and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife,  Linda Marie Jackson Lewis; son, Derrick Lewis; Father,  Walter L. Lewis Sr.; mother, Thedora Harrell Lewis; sister,  Jackie Marie Lewis, and brother,  Walter L. Lewis Jr.

God saw you getting weary. He did what he thought best. He came and stood beside you and whispered come home to me and rest.
