Obituary

If I can help somebody as I travel along the way, then my living shall not be in vain!

Having been raised in a Christian home, Mable Alexander was born to the ancestry of the late Thomas Hutchinson in Springfield, Louisiana on December 15, 1926. She was reared by her grandmother at the tender age of three months when her beloved mother passed away. Moreover, on September 4, 2021, Sis. Mable Alexander transitioned from earth to Glory to receive her golden crown.

She was nurtured and spiritually educated at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. W. M. Mixon.  She believed in the Holy Trinity and attended night services regularly at the historic Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church to partake of the Lord's Supper. Throughout her life, she honored God in every way possible and trusted the Lord and leaned not to her own understanding. In turn, she raised four children, teaching and baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost as God commands His children.

As Sis. Mable matured into adulthood, she sought employment with Tangipahoa Parish School System as a school bus driver. She graciously graced the presence of each child as they entered and exited the bus to receive an education to better themselves. In this effort, she dutifully served for 30 years and retired.

Momma, as her children affectionately called her, leaves cherished memories to four children: Eliza Shaverd, Lottie Tucker, Mary Ann Redeaux, and James Keith; eight grandchildren: Velma Newton, Pamela Jones, Lanita Shaverd, Andrea Smith, Shana Scott, Ivory Redeaux, Jr., Wayne Scott, and Edward Shaverd (Shalonda), and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Alvin Alexander; dad: Thomas Hutchinson; grandmother: Octavia Jones Hutchinson; three brothers: Thomas Hutchinson, Edward Green, and Elmer Green and grandson: Gary Fleming.
