"MaDea" LEVERN J. BLEVINS
"Madea" was born Levern Mary Johnson to Edgar Johnson and Clara Irving on October 16, 1935 in Roseland, Louisiana. She was baptized and dedicated her life to Christ at an early age.
She never strayed from her faith and dedication. She was educated in the Tangipahoa school system, attending O.W. Dillion and was a proud member of the first graduating class at West Side High School in Amite, LA.
She met and married the love of her life, Charles Blevins. To this union 4 children were born: Gwendolyn Blevins Dyson - Hammond, LA; Quincy Charles (Linda) Blevins - Antioch, CA; Evangeline Janice Blevins McCoy – Deceased; and Edgar Rene (Glenda) Blevins - Zachary, LA.
Mrs. Blevins' career spanned over 40 years with the Tangipahoa School System as a Food Service Technician. For many years she served in a volunteer capacity while consistently maintaining service with a smile.
Throughout her life long journey she never met a stranger. She greeted everyone with a smile and displayed love and sunshine in every step of her life journey. She touched the lives of many people who were the joy of her life.
She leaves to cherish her memories – Gwendolyn Blevins Dyson - daughter; Quincy Charles (Linda) and Edgar Rene (Glenda) Blevins – sons; 6 grandchildren – Adonica and Micah Blevins, Archie B. McCoy III, Etoyia Hawkins, Shani and Quincy Blevins Jr; a very special friend and great grandson, Xavier Blevins; 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren, and a host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins and extraordinary family and friends.
She was preceded in death by – mother Clara Irving; father Edgar Johnson; daughter Evangeline Blevins McCoy; grandson Kendall L. Dyson.
"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:6-7
Visitation: Thursday, November 14, 2019, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Richardson Funeral Home
Funeral Service: Friday, November 15, 2019 - 11:00 am, Big Zion AME Zion Church, Roseland, LA
Interment: Big Zion Cemetery
