Dr. Leslie M. Mabry, Jr. was born on September 8, 1944 in the small town of Pickens, Mississippi.  He spent the first six years of his life there with his parents, the Late Leslie Mabry, Sr. and Irene Edwards Mabry along with his eight siblings.  During the year of 1951, the family moved to Roseland, Louisiana, a town that was even smaller than Pickens.  With the exception of two years spent in Florida immediately after graduating college, he resided within a three mile radius of Roseland. At an early age along with his family, he attended the Evening Star Baptist Church in Pickens, Mississippi.  After relocating to Roseland, Louisiana he attended Rosevalley Baptist Church until his family moved their membership to Roseland Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the Late Superintendent W. L. Wilbon and the Late Superintendent Alonzo Richardson Jr. He continued his membership at Roseland Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Superintendent J.A. Richardson.

Dr. Leslie M. Mabry, Jr. was also a member of Community Church of God in Christ, under the Late Superintendent Daniel Muse, Sr., Big Zion A.M.E. Zion Church under the Late Reverend John Melvin Mabry, and at his demise a member of Beacon Light Baptist Church of Hammond, Louisiana under Bishop Dennis R. Hebert, Jr.  His faithfulness as a servant included, but not limited to being a choir director, president of district/state choir, deacon, and Chairman of the Trustee Board.  He began his formative years of education in Pickens, Mississippi at Free Union Elementary and Big Zion Elementary in Roseland, Louisiana.  His high school years were spent at West Side High in Amite, Louisiana. After graduation, he attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Southern University.  Dr. Leslie M. Mabry, Jr. continued to further his higher education at Southeastern University to obtain a Master's of Education Degree, + 30 and an Education Specialist Degree. In addition, he began his doctoral work at Louisiana State University and in 1990 obtained his Doctorate of Education from Pacific University in California.

Dr. Leslie M. Mabry, Jr. was employed as a high school Mathematics teacher in Lake City, Florida until moving back home to Roseland and then began teaching Mathematics at West Side High.  When schools were integrated, he was later assigned to Amite High School to teach Mathematics, until he was promoted as Director of Federal Programs and later to Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Tangipahoa Parish.  He retired as Assistant Superintendent of Schools in 2003, but not from his love and dedication for education, or mentoring any and everyone he could, which was exemplified throughout his career.  His religious, civic, professional organizations, citations, awards, administrative experience, employment, certifications, and community services were extensive and included over fifty different entities.

Dr. Leslie M. Mabry, Jr. faithfully volunteered at the Justice of the Peace, 3 rd Ward office for more than 15 years with his daughter.  His most recent enthusiasm and allegiance were to the Tangipahoa Parish Convention & Visitors Bureau (Tangipahoa Tourism), where he served as Chairman of the Board.  At his demise, he was the longest serving president of the Tangipahoa Parish Chapter Southern University Alumni Federation that extended over thirty plus years.

Dr. Leslie M. Mabry, Jr. was united in holy matrimony to Patricia Ann

Singleton, and to this union three loving children were born Tonya Patrice, Tyrus Leslie, and Trenier Cadai.

Dr. Leslie M. Mabry, Jr. departed this life on April 8, 2022 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, Louisiana for an eternal home in glory to be with his Lord and Savior.

Dr. Leslie M. Mabry, Jr. leaves to cherish his memories, one dedicated daughter: Tonya Patrice Mabry, two devoted sons: Tyrus Leslie Mabry, Trenier Cadai Mabry (Michelle); loving and devoted companion, Patricia Ann Mabry; brothers: Eddie J. Mabry (Karen) of Atascadero, CA., Rev.Willie Mabry of Maryland; sisters: Wardine M. Gordon (Bishop Charles H. Gordon) of Baton Rouge, LA, Mary E. Mabry-Holmes of Los Angeles, CA,; brothers-in-love: Lawrence Fields of Carson, CA, Jonathan Ard of Baton Rouge, LA; sister-in-love: Shirley Mabry of Hammond, LA, Lynn Mabry of Bolingbrook, IL, Odell Toney of Covington, LA, Jessie Johnson of Amite, LA; devoted son-in-love: Mark Ferguson of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Tremayne Mabry, Sr., Todd Mabry, Sr., Taylor Mabry, Tyler Mabry, Tanner Mabry, Tyler Ward, Amari Mabry, McKenna Mabry and Madelyn Mabry and three great-grandchildren; Tremayne, Jr., Todd, Jr., and Jayden; god-child: Erica Nicole Gayden and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Dr. Leslie M. Mabry, Jr. was preceded in his heavenly journey by his parents, Leslie Mabry, Sr. & Irene Edwards Mabry; brothers: Edward Mabry, Rev. John Melvin Mabry; sisters: Annie Thelma Chapman, Irene Daniels, Roxie B. Philmore, and Shirley Elouise Fields.
