Obituary

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted . Matthew 5 : 4

Lawrence Parker was born on February 1, 1953, to the late Andrew and Mary Parker in Independence, LA.  Before his transition, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.  Lawrence departed this life peacefully on July 7, 2021, at The Sanctuary at Passages Hospice House in New Orleans, LA.

He attended Independence High School and played as a running back on the Varsity Team.  He earned his nickname "Rabbit" due to his ability to move quickly on his feet. He was gifted in various trades such as auto mechanics, landscaping, roofing, and plumbing.  He enjoyed playing basketball and cooking for his family.  He made many friends through his love for hanging out under the Oak Tree in front of the "family's home".

He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Kicha Parker, Hammond, LA; two sisters, Dorothy Clay and Rosemary West, Independence, LA; three brothers, James Parker, Peoria, IL, Clarence (Carolyn) Parker, Atlanta, Georgia, and Charles Parker, Independence, LA; two grandchildren, Edward Ratcliff, Jr. and Zitavia Ratcliff, Hammond, LA; two great- grandchildren, Kalania Ratcliff and Jalayia Ratcliff, Hammond, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Mary Parker, two aunts, Beatrice Bellazar and Vera Rogers, sister-in- law, Earnestine Parker, three nephews, Tony Clay, Cedric Parker, and Reginald Clay and other relatives.
