Kim LaJasper Harrell-Jones

Kim LaJasper Harrell-Jones, age 47, transitioned from this life peacefully on Sunday,
August 9, 2020. She was born on February 15, 1973 in Hammond, LA to the late Elder Jasper
Harrell, Jr. and the late Missionary Primrose Bennett Harrell. She was married to Howard Jones
and her daughter, Amari Rose Harrell was the joy of her life.
Kim was educated in the St. Helena Parish School System, received her B. S. Degree from
Howard University, Washington, D.C. and her Masters of Arts Degree from Concordia
University, St. Paul, Minnesota. At the time of her demise, she was employed as a Program
Director at Regina Coeli Child Development Center.
Kim loved life and she loved people. She had an analytical mind, if you had a problem,
she would solve it. Her mind and her hands were rarely still.
Her life was a living example of her service to God and her fellow man. She was an active
member of Gordon-Harrell Church of God in Christ, pastored by Elder Louis Robertson.
Kim is survived by her daughter, Amari Rose Harrell; her husband, Howard Jones; sister,
Missionary Wanda Harrell Knighten; surrogate sister/aunt, Evangelist Deloris Harrell
Washington (Henry); niece, Myia Knighten; nephew, Jasper Michael Knighten; godmother,
Mariah Bennett; mother-in-law, Betty Hewitt; Aunts: Missionary Carlean Bennett Pope
(Joseph), Rose C. Bennett, Cherry Harrell, Sadie P. Harrell, Mildred A. Harrell, Jerry D. Johnson,
Ruth Jackson; great aunt, Geraldine Hitchens; cousin/aunt, Joyce Haywood; Uncles, Henry
Harrell (Sarah), Oliver Jackson, Sr. (Pat); five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and a host of
other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Pastor Jasper Harrell, Jr. and District
Missionary Primrose Bennett Harrell; her grandparents: Cleveland Bennett, Sr. and Lillie
Hitchens Bennett, Jasper Harrell, Sr. and Josephine Richardson Harrell; and other relatives.
Kim will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A private Funeral Service will be held on
Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:00 am, Richardson Funeral Home, Inc., 501 N.W. Central Ave.,
Amite, LA.
There will be no repast and due to the pandemic the family will not be receiving guests.
