Jimmie was born on March 17, 1943 to the late Richard and Earnestine D. Johnson in Sunny Hill, La. He was the youngest of their eight children. Jimmie entered his eternal rest on August 7, 2020.

Jimmie acknowledged and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. Jimmie was a graduate of O.W. Dillon High in Kentwood. He was an outstanding Basketball player in which he played alongside his brother Charlie.

After graduating high school and living in Hammond, LA, he relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Jimmie was a Truck Driver for several years an later he began his life long occupation as a cement contractor. He worked as a custodian for Jani King under the ownership of Daniel and Sonya Bailey for many years.

Jimmie enjoyed hunting with his brothers and nephews Willie & Windell; Sharing stories and endless conversations with family and friends was a joy to him.

He was known for giving his grands and great-grands their nicknames. Jimmie's unselfish character, hard work, unconditional love, and his inability to say "No" never went unnoticed. Jimmie will always be remembered for his Kangol hats, deep dimples and affectionate smile.

He leaves to cherish his memories the love of his life, Mary Lena Robertson, two daughters: Arleather and Elaine Johnson; one son: Stanley Bailey, (in which he and Mary reared as their own); and One stepdaughter: Darlene Jackson, all of Baton Rouge, LA. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, family and friends. Two Sisters-in-Law; Myrtle and Harriet Johnson. A devoted nephew, Willie Briggs.

Jimmie was proceeded in death by his parents: Richard and Earnestine Johnson; Seven siblings; Alton, Alvia, Mae, Elliot, Leroy, Hosie, Charlie, and Mattie Lee. One daughter, Delsandra Renee Smith, and one step son Daryl L. Robertson.
