Jessie Smith was born March 2, 1953 to Oliver Gutter and Lula B. Smith. Jessie was educated in the Bogalusa School System where he graduated in 1971. He then moved to Chicago and began working with the postal service. After retiring to Bogalusa, he moved with his niece, Betty Braziel. When his health progressively declined he was placed in Brookside Rehabilitation Center.

On Monday February 15, 2021. Jessie was called into the other dimension we call death. He leaves to cherish his memories three sisters: Lynette (Houston, TX); Mae Etta and Hazel (Franklinton, LA). One brother Oliver Gutter, Jr. (Indiana). A special niece, Betty Braziel (Rev. Eddie) and a host of other relatives.

Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, and brothers.
