THE LIFE STORY OF JESSIE L. BRUMFIELD

Mother Jessie Lee Brumfield was born July 4 , 1941 in Osyka , MS to the late Pearlie Ross and Willie R. Varnado , Sr. Jessie was baptized at an early age , and attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church . She received her education at O.W. Dillon School . In 1960 , she met and married Brother Jessie Brumfield , Jr. To this union they raised five children : Marion , Sharon , Sylvia , Lisa , and Eric . Later in life she joined Levi Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop A.V. Jordan until her health began to fail . While at Levi Temple she served on The Mother Board and contributed frequently to the fellowship dinner . She loved to cook for her church family, biological family , and those in the community. Dishes such as cornbread dressing , chicken pie , and gumbo were favorites .

Mother Jessie worked many jobs throughout the years , she settled at Croft Metals and retired at the age of 59. After retiring , she spent most of her time tending to her grandchildren who affectionately called her " Granny . " Family was very important to Jessie Lee . She planned Sunday dinners weekly so she could be surrounded by the love of family . Her Fourth of July birthday parties were the highlight of the year for many . BBQ and her homemade side dishes brought many out to celebrate . Ms. Jessie celebrated 81 birthdays and on March 15, 2023 she was called to her heavenly resting place . She was surrounded by family and the love that she cherished so much .

She was preceded in death by her husband , parents , grandparents , sister : Cora Lee Varnado , three brothers : Wille Varnado , Jr. , Willie Ray Varnado , and Kelvin Varnado , and one granddaughter : Cailee Jade Brumfield .

Mother Jessie leaves to cherish her five beautiful children : Marion Varnado of McComb , MS , Sharon ( Tom ) Brown of McComb , MS, Sylvia ( Steven) Wright of Woodstock , GA , Lisa Brumfield of Osyka , MS and only son , Eric ( Cassandra )

Brumfield of Magnolia, MS . Two Brothers : Oliver Ross of Amite , LA and Alvin Joiner , Jr. of McComb , MS ; two sisters : Audrey Renee Brumfield of McComb , MS and Ellen Harris of Osyka , MS . Eight precious grandchildren : Lekiva ( Travis ) Wesby , Lakina Me'na Brumfield , Devon Osby , Booker ( Shanda ) Littles Jr. , Janea Dominguez , Tamara Brown , Ericka Brumfield , and A'Kira Brumfield ; and 13 great - grandchildren as well as a host of nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of other relatives .
