Bro. Jerry Lee McGee entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 7:20 pm, at North
Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Louisiana. He was born on August 7, 1958 to the late Batiste
Bickham Jr. and Marie McGee Brumfield, in Independence, Louisiana, at Lallie Kemp Hospital.
Bro. McGee was raised in Roseland, Louisiana, where he accepted Christ as his personal savior
at an early, age and became a member of Big Zion A.M.E under the leadership of Rev. Hollis
Callahan. In February, the year of our Lord, two thousand and twenty, he recommitted his life to
Christ, at Big Zion A.M.E under the leadership of Rev. Errick L. Baldwin and remained a
member until his passing. He attended Big Zion Elementary School, after completing elementary
school, he advanced to Amite High School. As an adult he found work as a general laborer and
was always willing to lend a hand to anyone.
On January 1, 2002 Bro. McGee was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Rose Mary Hooker, who
remained devoted to him throughout his illness and until his passing. Bro. McGee leaves to
cherish eternal memories his wife Rose, four sisters, Catherine J. Wheat, Clara M. Kelly, Ida M.
Oden, and his fraternal twin Kay J. McGee all of Roseland, Louisiana, one brother Leslie M.
Brumfield Sr. of Amite, Louisiana, one daughter Tiffany Campbell-Dowell (Robert) of Memphis
Tennessee, four step children, Kendrick Hooker, National (Joseph) Harrison, Jessica (Charston)
Williams, and Casondra Hooker, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents Oscar McGee and Aline
Dudley McGee Curry, and Batiste Bickham Sr. and Irma Murphy Bickham, his parents Batiste
Bickham Jr. and Marie McGee Brumfield, and one brother Walter Brumfield Jr.
