Gregory "Greg" Washington was born July 29, 1959, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. When he was still a young child, the family moved to California. He was the eldest child of Malyndia Washington and the late Richard Washington, Sr.
Greg received his formal education in the San Diego Public Schools, which is where he developed a lifelong love of basketball, baseball and golf. After graduating from S. While at Grambling, Greg also met the love of his life and longtime companion, Dianne Vining. The two were married in 1987 and to this union two children were born, Gabrielle Washington and Gemelle Washington.
