Sister Fara Dean Griffin-McCoy was born September 4,1955 in Independence, LA to her parents, Juanita and Percy Griffin. Sister McCoy was received into the arms of her heavenly father on October 9,2021 at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa, LA. She found Christ and became a member of Big Zion AME Baptist Church in Roseland, LA and later married Ernest '" Billy" McCoy in 2003.

She will always be remembered as "The Life of the Party". She brought laughter and fun to everyone who knew her with many dance moves. A loving mother and homemaker, Sister McCoy was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. She loved to watch her great-grandchildren and watch Syfy channels during her spare time. Also, she was a very loving, caring, and generous woman who lived her life to the fullest. Her charming smile set enlightened any given moment.

She leaves to cherish her children Walter Lee, Dena (Willie) Brooks, Tedrick Lee, Shemeka Griffin, Nicole Griffin, and Derron (Shagaria) Griffin. One uncle Felix (Etha Mae) McKnight. Her three sisters Alesa Williams, Laura Griffin, Corstien Griffin, and Stephanie Griffin. Her four brothers Eddie Griffin, John Griffin, Moses Griffin, Anthony Griffin, and Alfonse Griffin. Also, 19 grandchildren , 8 great-grandchildren, and an incredibly special niece Jackie Pitts (My Black Barbie) and a great niece Dynasty Pitts. Also, a host of nieces and nephews.

Sister McCoy is preceded in death by her parents Juanita and Percy Griffin, her grandmother Ellen McKnight, three siblings Rosemary Henry, Margaret Ann Briggs, and Percy Griffin JR. One grandchild Tykeith Harold JR and one great-grandchild Brendan Freeman JR. Also, two special friends Kiewanna McCoy and Georgia Doughty.
