Ms. Emma McCoy Wilson was born on February 11,1952, in Roseland, Louisiana to the late Eloise McCoy and Archie McCoy Sr. As a child, she joined Big Zion A.M.E. Church and remained a loyal member where she carried out several duties. She was a Trustee, Usher; Financial Secretary of the Cemetery Committee, and Champion for Black History.
Emma was very active in her childhood school years and loved her sports. She graduated from West Side High & Amite High School in 1970 in Amite, Louisiana. Emma went on to College at Southern University A&M College and graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Health Safety Education in Social Studies. She continued her education at Southern University and graduated in 1979 with a Master's Degree, Plus 30. Her specialty of studies was the supervision of student teachers.
Emma began working as a student teacher at West Side Middle School during her last two years in college. She was a Health & Physical Education Teacher and a Coach for 33 years at Westside Middle School and retired in May of 2002. She then went on to Northwood Alternative School in Amite, Louisiana where she taught Math and Social Studies for two years.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory, 3 Beloved Children, daughter Anitra McCoy-Parker (Frank) (Roseland, LA), son Marbrae' Wilson (Tampa, FL), daughter; Negatha Wilson-Ardoin (Baton Rouge, LA). She also leaves 7 Grandchildren: LaDarius McCoy (Houston, TX), LaSindra Hutchinson(Nalbear) (Amite, LA), LaDajsha Tucker (Melvin) (Amite, LA); Aaliyah Hayes of (Monroe, LA,) Brae Wilson (Tampa, FL), Jeremiah Ardoin (Baton Rouge, LA) and Peyton Ardoin (Baton Rouge, LA). 4 Great-Grandchildren LaDarius McCoy Jr; Amari Governor; Laila Governor and Kenzie McCoy. 5 Siblings: Archie McCoy I (Roseland, LA), Jerzy McCoy (Kokomo, IN), Patricia Briggs (Pittsburgh, PA), David McCoy (Kokomo, IN), Terry McCoy (Roseland, LA). A slew of nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of beloved friends, and a supportive community.
