Sis. Cynthia Brooks-Jones was born in Independence, LA on November 24, 1958 to the late Jimmie D. Brooks and Margaret Mamie Ross-Brooks.  She departed this life on August 27, 2022 at the Oschner Medi cal Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Sis. Cynthia accepted Christ at an early age and was later baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Johnny Milton.  She remained a faithful member of the Mt. Gillion Baptist Church under the l eadership of her pastor, Rev. Lamar Stewart. Even when the world was forever changing she remained committed to her walk with Christ, her church, and would let everyone know that she loved her pastor .

Sis. Cynthia was a graduate of Amite High School in 1976 and she also attended Southern University.  She really had a passion for helping people, and she was such a loving and caring person to all t hose around her.  She went on and completed her certification for a Certified Nursing Assistant where she worked as for over 17+ years. Throughout the years she worked at Audubon Living Center, Greens burg Nursing Home, and North Oaks Medical Center until she fell ill.  She then retired and enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her grand children.

Sis. Cynthia was very family oriented.  She was with Micheal T. Jones for over 17 years and later married him around 2004. She loved her family and she was truly a matriarch to the family.  She was ve ry humble and sweet.  She would do whatever she can for anyone especially her family and friends.  She was witty and outspoken.  She loved talking the phone with some of her closest friends and famil y such as Deidra Butler, Betty Smith, and Sharon Copeland along with so many other special family members, friends, and old co workers.  She really loved and cared about so many people.  She had a heart that was bigger than life itself.  She was the glue that held her family together, and she will truly be missed.

Cynthia leaves to cherish her memories: Two daughters, LaQuianta Thomas and Kelekia Brooks both of Baton Rouge, LA; One Stepson, Antonio Walker of Hazlehurst, MS; Three granddaughters, Charenquia Brooks of Baton Rouge, LA, Tia Moore of Fluker, LA, and Kionna Gibson of Hazlehurst, MS; Four grandsons, Reeco Thomas, and Kyree Riley of Baton Rouge, LA, and Antonio Walker Jr. and Darrian Gibson both of Hazlehurst, MS; One brother, William Brooks of Fluker, LA; Two Sisters, Margaret Cyprian of Kentwood, LA and Patricia Brooks of Roseland, LA; Two Aunts, Catherine Thomas of Amite, LA and Eliza beth Wilson of Roseland, LA; One niece, Nicole (Michael) Cyprian-Walls of Kentwood, LA, and One nephew, Willie Cyprian of Kentwood, LA; a Special Son, Gregory (Sadrina) Clayton of Hammond, LA, a spec ial daughter and caregiver, Chansa (Michael) Moore-Stewart of Fluker, LA, and One Special Sister in law, Happy Jones of Hazlehurst, MS, and a lso a host of other loving relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Micheal Jones, her parents, Jimmie D. Brooks and Margaret Mamie Ross-Brooks; h er maternal grand parents , William Ross and Emma Bickham–Ross; her paternal grandparents, William and Katie Brooks; one nephew, Emmanuel Louise Cyprian: along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.
