Colleen
East
Mar 1, 1944 — Sep 27, 2018
Kenner
The angel of the Lord has visited again and chosen from among us one of the best. Sister Colleen Genovia East passed to her heavenly reward on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at approximately 12:10 a.m., at Ochsner Medical Center in Kenner, Louisiana.
Sister East was born on March 1, 1944. She was the oldest of eleven children born to the late Ellis and Minnie Harrell. Sister East knew and loved the Lord, and was reared in a Christian home. She was united in fellowship at an early age, at Gordon/Richardson Temple of Deliverance COGIC, (formerly Gordon Chapel) under the leadership of the late Dr. Samuel Richardson. After marriage, she joined St. James COGIC in Shrewsbury, LA under the leadership of the late Elder W.B. Foster, but later reunited in fellowship at Gordon/Richardson Temple of Deliverance COGIC, under the leadership of Supt. Emmitt Richardson, Sr.
Sister East was united in Holy Matrimony to Bro. Alfloyd East, Sr. on March 15, 1969, and to this union, one biological son was born. God later blessed them to become the parents of another son.
Sister East was a woman who had a good heart and knew the word of God. Sister East loved to talk, her kind heart, insightful ways, wonderful sense of humor and wise old sayings will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She loved everyone and if she could help you, she would.
