Obituary

After 92 wonderful years as a servant of the Most High God, Bro. Charles M. Hampton (Bro. Hamp) answered heaven's roll call on March 27, 2020 at his home in Fluker, LA

Charles Monroe Hampton was born to Lemie & Annie L. Knighten Hampton of Tangipahoa, LA. He met and married Dorothy L. Cyprian Hampton January 27, 1952. To this union was born nine children.

Bro Hamp served faithfully at Fluker Chapel AME Church, Fluker, LA. in several capacities. Some of them were Steward, Trustee, Church Treasurer, Church School Teacher, Member of the Sons of Allen and Leader of the Fluker Male Chorus and as a delegate to the Louisiana Annual Conference.

Bro Hamp was a Quartet singer all his life. Some of the group he sung with include the Crescent City Gospel Singers, New Orleans, LA, The True Friends, Roseland, LA, The Morning Star Gospel Singers, Roseland, LA and The Bolivar Humming Four, Kentwood, LA. He would become the only surviving member each group. He then formed the Fluker Male Chorus, Fluker LA, which is celebrating its 32 year.

Bro. Hamp was a Charter Member of the Prince Hall Masons, Fluker, LA and served as Worshipful Master. He also served as President of the Fluker Waterworks and as an Election Precinct Worker. Before retiring, he spent several years in highway construction and as a welder in the steel mill.

He leaves to cherish wonderful memories, his wife of Sixty-Eight (68) years, Dorothy L. Hampton; Nine Children: Charlie Jones Jr, Atlanta, GA, Ana Rigunis, Conyers , GA, Barbara Richard (Isiah), Clarkston, GA, Albertha Fleming (Rev. Fleming) Lawrenceville, GA; Bernard Hampton (Selina), Conyers, GA, Rev. Dennis J Hampton (Barbara), Tulsa, OK, Denice Williams Norful (Willie) Decatur, GA, Allen E. Hampton, Sr. (Kendra) Stockbridge, GA. and Connie D. Hampton, Conyers, GA.

Two Sisters: Clara Fultz, Tangipahoa, LA and Inez Robinson, (Ned), Gueydan, LA. Several Sister-in-laws: Inez Cyprian, San Francisco, CA; Estelle McGill, Violet, LA, Helen Cyprian, San Francisco, CA and Bernadine Campbell, New Orleans, LA and a Brother-in-law: Edward Cyprian, New Orleans, LA.

And a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins and friends

A Memorial Service will be held later.

Mrs. Dorothy and her children are encouraging friends of the family, the public and family to come out Friday evening to pay your last respects to Brio. Hamp.
