Charles Blevins was born in Roseland, LA on February 22, 1932 to the union of Elmer Blevins and Lucy (Brown) Lewis. He graduated from Tangipahoa Parish Training School in Kentwood, Louisiana, and after high school, he briefly attended Grambling State University, Grambling Louisiana to play football until an injury sent him home.

He married Levern Johnson in 1953 and that relationship led to the birth of four children.  Gwendolyn Diane Dyson- Hammond, Louisiana, Quincy Charles (Linda) Blevins – Antioch, California, Evangeline Janice McCoy – Deceased, and Edgar Rene (Glenda) Blevins – Zachary, Louisiana. He also leaves elder son Nathaniel (Helen) Blevins – New Orleans, Louisiana.

He served in the U. S. Army and in the Louisiana National Guard. He was also a skilled carpenter and put his skills to work in building his family's first home. In addition, he was a city policeman, truck driver and worked as a pipefitter.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories, one brother Hosea Blevins of Chicago, Illinois; one sister Grace Walker Perry of Amite, Louisiana; three loving sons Edgar Rene (Glenda) Blevins, Quincy (Linda) Blevins, Nathaniel (Helen) Blevins,; and one daughter Gwendolyn Diane Dyson; 6 grandchildren – Adonica and Micah Blevins, Archie B. McCoy III, Etoyia Hawkins, Shani and Quincy Blevins Jr. and Casey Blevins and;  an extraordinary group of other family members and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother Lucy Brown Lewis; father– Elmer Blevins, Brother Marion Lewis, Sister Marjorie Barnes, daughter – Evangeline Janice McCoy, grandson – Kendall Dyson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any other charity of your choice in his name.
