Argelee Ellzey was born March 20,1932 to the union of Jacob and Lula Bailey. She was born and raised in the town of Bogalusa. She later moved to Hammond where she departed this life in the home of her devoted granddaughter.

Mother Ellzey was a very caring mother and grandmother.  She loved her family dearly. She stepped into the role of the mother to three of her grandchildren, Tonya, Lula and Odell Jr. Throughout the years she enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing.  She was such a inspiration to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Because of her kindness and caring personality she will be missed by many.

She leaves to cherish, one son, Odell Hewitt of Kentwood, La; two daughter, Brenda Dantzler and Linda Fay Smith of Hammond, La; ;10 grandchildren, Cookie, Alice, Jacob, Michael, Earl, James, Tonya, Lula, Odell Jr., Zelvyn and Johnnie; 26 great grandchildren; one daughter in law, Delores Brumfield; hosts of nieces, nephews,  cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Rev. J.B. Bailey and Lula Bailey; one son, Robert Brumfield
