On February 19, 1951, Minister Alvin Stalling was born to Nathaniel Sr. and Emma Naomi Stalling in New Orleans,
Louisiana. Alvin is the second oldest of eleven children. Alvin was educated in the Chicago public school system.
While in his last year at Cooley High School in Chicago, Illinois the family moved to Detroit Michigan. Alvin aka
("Bubba" & "Sly" affectionally known amongst family and friends) led a carefree and adventurous lifestyle, he did
it his way.
Alvin enrolled into the United States Army at the age of 17. After being released from his duties in the United States
Army, Alvin traveled between Louisiana, Chicago and Detroit working on odd jobs here and there. Alvin landed a
job as an Off-Shoreman in New Orleans, after moving back to Detroit he landed the job as a Medical Assistant. He
furthered his education at the University of Detroit Mercy. Alvin was always the life of the party at any family and
friend gatherings.
After his commitment to God and the ministry Alvin joined the Greater Gloryland COGIC under the late Bishop
Adam Edwards in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was under Bishop Edwards that he was licensed a Minister. Alvin is
most known for his passion for Evangelistic/Outreach ministry on the streets, in his community, and among family
and friends. He had a special anointing to draw families to the church, helping them get the help that they need.
In 2005 he joined the Red Cross, FEMA and ACORN in the state of Texas during the Hurricane Katrina disaster,
helping families from New Orleans get housing. Alvin founded the "Naomi Convert Ministries" (named after his
mother) that helped veterans, former prisoners and the homeless.
Every so often he would go on a sabbatical, fasting, praying and studying God's Word. He was a consistent student
of the Word of God. He loved teaching, discussing, and researching the Word of God in which he did often at public
libraries and teaching on Facebook. Minister Alvin was called upon to preach the gospel in various states and cities.
He was anointed to win souls to Christ.
Alvin was a loyal friend to so many, he would reach out to his friends past and present from time to time just to say,
"Hello." But his best friend, Timmy Ray Baker... they were like two peas in a pod, "road dogs" homeboys, he loved
Timmy Ray Baker, he was sorely hurt when Timmy Ray passed.
Alvin is the proud father of one son, Minister Rodney Kenyatta Jones Sr. (Retired Police Officer, Detroit Finest) and
one grandson, Senior Airman/E4 Rodney Jones Jr. and one granddaughter, Cierra Jones. He was a doting father &
grandfather; he would brag on his family with a "Kool-Aid" smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister (Evelyn), twin brothers (Charles & Carl) and his best friend, (Timmy
Ray Baker).
On "Good Friday" April 7, 2023 at approximately 2:00pm in the afternoon, Alvin was on his way to the New Orleans
Public Library to do what he always did, research and study the Word of God when his life was snatched from him.
Alvin left this earth Triumphant; he is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He leaves to mourn his passing, son, Minister Rodney Kenyatta Jones Sr. (LaMetra), grandson, Rodney Jones Jr.
(Amanda), granddaughter, Cierra Jones, seven siblings: Evang. Bertha Mason, Elder Nathaniel Stalling Jr. (Teresa),
Minister Jonathan Stalling Sr., Evang. Linda Butler, Desiree Stalling-Hannible (Andre), Elder James Stalling
(Carmen), Pastor Ronnie Stalling (Stacey), Uncles & Aunts: George Stalling Sr. (Doris), Pastor Lonnie Nichols Sr.
(Linda), Josephine Merriweather, Apostle Lanette Davis, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and
friends, bonus children: (Eve Ellis, Joshua Brown, Will Brown & Michelle Brown Jr. aka Sambo).
